The Horse Whispering for Youth Program Inc is a non for profit organisation which is proudly sponsored by Horses Helping Humans™
Students are personality matched to their horse/pony at the start of the course. Those who may have been bullied or have poor boundaries are paired with a strong personality horse to help them learn to develop healthy boundaries, the ability to say ‘no’ assertively and develop their self esteem.
Those who may come across as a bully because of being loud and boisterous are paired with a more sensitive horse so they learn to develop calmness and become more aware of how their body language is affecting those around them.
To see these changes developing over a short period of time is very rewarding, with loud disruptive students becoming calm and focused with their horses and shy, nervous students standing tall and proud. By the end of the course all participants are more aware of body language and the importance this has in their communication with others – horses and people alike!
For youth organisation participants, a presentation show is held at the end of the course, with students showing off their new horse whispering skills and receiving certificates and ribbons.
For the students to successfully complete this ground skills course, they must display calm assertiveness, focus and have respect and empathy for the horse or pony they are paired with. It has been wonderful to see the students achieve all of the above on presentation days. Tears have flowed on more than one occasion!
1/2 day programs, full day programs and workshops available.
Sue Spence's program 'which horse or pony are you?' teaching children about themselves and communication is also delivered by powerpoint in schools.
